How brace of Emma to come to the group, it must have been very hard for her. Holding the baby too, must have been difficult. Keep up the blogging!! we all look forward to it, I always check to see if you have posted more for us!! Enjoy your week together, and try to rest as much as you can x x

3rd June, Thursday

I am not too happy- Mark is still out and it is 11pm. He is supposedly having a day off tomorrow as he had to go in today- we'll see!

It is a special Feast Day today today- Corpus Christi - and he was meant to be coming to Mass with us all so he's missed that too. Emma picked us all up as we can all fit in her 17 seater van! and we went together and had lunch afterwards in the hall. I was feeling very sick today- it has been a very nauseous day today and yesterday, perhaps it is connected to coming home from my brother's?

We had a lovely, peaceful five days in Buckler's Hard in Beaulieau, in the New Forest. The weather was mixed but it didn't stop the children from going out on my brother's boat and taking the adorable Bella (his black lab) for walks! They were all so brilliantly behaved and so funny. I was not allowed to go on the boat and I didn't fancy puking over the side, so I opted for sitting in the garden or coming down to the harbour for an ice cream!

My sickness abated a little and I did rest and sleep quite alot- the house is so idyllic that one feels naturally rested there.

I brought the scan photos with me and I loved showing my brother and his partner as you could see their astonishment at how deveopled a baby is at 13 weeks (fully formed and only needs to grow). I must ask Ben to somehow put them up on this blog. The bump is receiving some embarrassing comments like 'you must be more along than you think!' and 'the twin must have been hiding behind it's sibling!' and ' gosh you're huge'...Hmm. I think it is more a combination of my age and the fact I was slightly larger at the beginning of this pregnancy...........

I have not taken a single sickness pill yet but probably need to tonight!

The symptoms of pregnancy- constant toilet going, breast tenderness, tiredness, sickness, nasal congestion, piles ALL very present and seem accentuated this time. A friend said it could be because of the seven year gap- that it is almost like having a first baby again! It kind of makes sense!

Much love,
A

Amanda, just liket to add my little bit!! I dont think age has anything to do with it, nor should previous weight. I was 39 when I was pregnant with Georgia, and actually lost weight during the pregnancy, and had a small bump until around 7 months and then seemed to grow overnight, but not too big. She was 7lb 13oz, and my biggest out of the four. Maybe you have a large baby, were your others quite big?? Take care, love Smile

Hi,

I am sitting here trying to sip very watered down grape juice as I have a pounding head and Ben is softly strumming on his guitar- that boy is gifted! He composes the most beautiful tunes I have ever heard. I have one special one he made for me on a birthday and he keeps tweaking and changing it slightly and plays it to me most days!

Oh it is heavenly- he has just come in here to play for me!

I am so sick today- probably connected with missing Mark as he has had to go on a 'team building' night away! (blelch!..how he detests these days/nights!). And also constant worry and fear over all the terribly sad news on the forum and in my life genrally. My precious Godmother who is severely physically disabled is in hospital again....

Something happy did occur today though! I wore a maternity dress for the FIRST time! LOL I came downstairs to shock all the children who were amazed (little things please little minds!) It did feel wonderful to be wearing it again though- something I never thought would be possible again. I have five dresses and that's it!

All is quiet now as Ben has gone to bed. I better go and have a rest..

Love,

Amanda

Must admit i only wore dresses with my two boys, with the girls it was track suits and trousers with loose tops, just the trend at the time!!! Sorry to hear about your Godmother, how sad for you. Ben composing songs for you, how lovely, what a kind and generous son you have. Sorry Mark had to go away yet again!!! Hope hes back today, take care x x x

June 17th, very late and I am very naughty being up!

OH MY goodness, i was just about to update this blog when Mark has come in from the garden to tell me that our next door neighbour's cat has climbed up into our bedroom window and was coming into our BEDROOM! I am sorry to all cat lovers but I am absolutely terrified of cats and don't they know it! This particular one is always always in our garden trying to eat the children's only pets, their fish! There are frequent arguments about this cat- one son thinks we should be kind to it and befriend it and teach it to love fish (he is the one who would like to become a Priest) and the other son thinks spraying water around - to frighten it- is the only just cause for the salvation of the fish. Hm, I don't tend to take sides as long as it is not in the garden when I am there and the fish are intact............................

(I have sent Mark up before me, he does, thankfully, sleep nearest the window).

Anyway, where was I? Oh yes supposedly talking about my baby. Dare I say the sickness has slightly weaned in that I am vomiting once a day, sometimes twice, and not five or six times and retching at everything! What an achievement! (LOL) I am eating well and extremely ravenous for all sorts of foods- mainly MEAT- especially red meat, halloumi cheese, eggs.... Today i bought a tub of olives and ate them before I reached home but i did have a helper (Ben).

I am 17 weeks pregnant already and a BALLOON! How I wish our printer was working but tomorrow I am going to make Ben downlaod the photos from my camera and also take a few of my bump. I am the biggest I have ever been.

The maternity dresses have caused quite a stir here! Every day they await to see what I have on like some sort of odd mother's fashion show! Only my children could be seriously interested in my maternity dresses but it is endearing! They were quite disappointed when I appeared in a jeans skirt today but that is because I have left one dress at my brother's and two are in the wash (a pile as high as a mountain!) and two are too large still................patience children, I have just ordered a new one from e-bay, they will probably want a show for that one too.....sweet!

We saw my rheumy on Friday. He smiled in delight when we said I was expecting! I repeated what the the Physician had suggested at the hospital and he said 'no way!' in regards to going back onto Hydro! Phew, i wasn't planning on it but is till wanted his advice. He says I have swellings in the knees, esp the right one, and small effusions in both elbows although they are miles straighter and better. He has suggested (quite strongly as I know he thinks I will ignore this) that I re-start the Hydro AND the SLZ at 28 weeks PREGNANT! I have never ever faced this before and was startled and very upset to be honest. I thought he'd say as soon as baby is born but at 28wks! he has said in no uncertain terms that he thinks the RA will come very badly and to arm myself with the meds before I even deliver is a sensible precaution............

I found myself nodding vaguely and he dictated his letter to all the various drs. he has said that there is no need for me to see him again unless I am ill or want to as I'll be busy with obstetrician appointments etc.

We discussed it in the car and I was scared Mark would insist I follow his advice (seeing as we do in fact pay for it) but he agreed it seemed very early and that we would do it at 35 weeks which will please God be when I get to hospital. I am still not very happy, in a way i would prefer to respond to my RA and my own body but sensibly I know I do not want to be too ill to cope.

Oh also, breast feeding of course complicates matters but there is no way this side of Heaven I will not BF! I had no RA until Patrick was 11months old last time....I keep trying to convince myself this is for the best but how I wish I didn't even have to contemplate meds and when I re-start them again!

Right, I'd better venture upstairs and pray the cat isn't in our room hiding amongst my maternity dresses.

We have two birthdays this week- Patrick was 6 yesterday (cannot believe it!) and Samuel will be 11 on Friday!

The BEST news is that I am pretty sure I can feel flutterings now- it is SO SO lovely! and makes it so real. It is very slight and I am slightly obsessed with feeling it but M is convinced it is the baby and not my tummy gurgling!

Much love,
A

Amanda, my mother in law was terrified of cats too. She found it hard to stay with her friend at the coast as she befriended 3 cats, and they came inside the house.
Feeling movements!! must be lovely.
Glad theres not so much sickness, lets hope that continues.
The rheumy is just giving his opinion/advice, obviously it has to be your choice, if you dont feel that you could take the hydroxy at 28 weeks, then thats your decision.
Its lovely that your children are so involved with the pregnancy, even down to wanting to see you in maternity dresses!!
Take care x xSmile

How to get rid of cats for ever .

Water they hate it .

Catch the cat and spray with water and a bit of vinger .
or catch the cat and dunk it in water .

or get a bucket and chuck water .
The cat will live and will never come to your garden again .

the wetter the cat is will do the trick they just hate it .

Ah thanks Melly! They're so big, not too sure why but Ben couldn't make them any smaller!!

Thank you Samuel had a lovely day in the end considering I did no planning! He had two friends here for the night last night so that was lovely- they were so good and Mark took them all to the quarry today for a play, they found fossils and used his new walkie talkies!

Love,

Amanda
